This seminar, will explore folded, tied, stitched, bound, and clamped resist patterns on cloth that create a kaleidoscope of color and pattern possibilities. See how 3D manipulations of fabric create unexpected 2D visual effects while we examine some exquisite examples of shibori housed at Textile Hive. Practice typical shibori folding patterns and experiment with simple paper samples akin to deconstructed origami. See how contemporary Japanese fashion designers from Issey Miyake to Junya Watanabe have explored this rich territory between two and three dimensions.
Led by Annin Barrett, textile specialist, and Caleb Sayan, Textile Hive co-founder. Register on Eventbrite or if you want to sign up for 3 or more classes in the series, contact us directly and receive a discount.
