29th International Sculpture Conference Opening
October 12, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Featuring artwork by Krista Cibis Textile Hive Artist in Residence

PNCA is delighted to host the opening reception, Marketplace, and exhibitions for the 29th International Sculpture Conference.
The ISC will travel to Portland, OR from October 12-15, 2019 for the 29th International Sculpture Conference: The Multifaceted Maker, bringing together a diverse audience to discuss the influence and impact of contemporary sculpture, and its potential for cultural influx.
Visitors will start the conference on a high note at PNCA meeting Marketplace vendors and viewing exhibitions.
Inspired by the Andrea Aranow Collection at Textile Hive, Krista chooses to use traditionally feminine materials (such as textiles and hand sewing) in the world of contemporary art where the line between what is called craft and what is called fine art can be as thin as a needle and thread.
Her work is centered on observation of communication and culture. Materials and techniques are important aspects of the works. The materials range from textile, organic, synthetic, or found objects. The medium and technique, whether hand-sewing or documentary-style photography, reinforces the meaning in her work. She draws on her research background, extensive international travel and lived experiences. Her newer works are inquiry-led projects with exploration of materials and dimensionality. She is a PNCA graduate student pursuing a double MFA in Visual Studies and Critical Theory.
