Experience the Journey: From Farm to Fashion at the Historic Imperial Stock Ranch

A one-of-a-kind excursion into Oregon’s historic Imperial Stock Ranch to witness the journey of wool from the sheep to finished goods

Join us for a one-of-a-kind excursion into Oregon’s interior where we pair the vintage textile experience of Portland Textile Month with an authentic heritage ranching operation, known for its fiber since the early 1870’s. This unique and exclusive opportunity for the fiber/design community will be a single day trip to the historic Imperial Stock Ranch. Come learn about the process of wool, from the land, to the sheep, to the sheering, to market, all with sustainable practices put into place by Imperial Stock ranch.
The day will include:
A scenic drive down the Columbia River Gorge in a private charter coach en route to the Deschutes River and the Imperial Stock Ranch where the views of Oregon’s high desert are breathtaking.
An authentic ranch experience, where we tour the heritage operation, walking through buildings from the late 1800’s, watch some amazing dogs at work, meet some sheep, and get a glimpse of the sustainable practices that have the Imperial Stock Ranch on the leading edge of today’s agricultural practices.

Informative presentation of the process from raw wool to yarn and on to fabrics and finished goods, as well as demonstrations of hand spinning and weaving.
A delicious lunch hosted by Creative Capital Design’s Chief Design Director & Co-founder, Britta Cabanos and Imperial Stock Ranch Owners Dan and Jeanne Carver.
A hearty dose of question and answer discussions throughout the day.

A spectacular end to the day will be the return trip to Portland over the Cascades past Mt. Hood and through Government Camp, back into Portland.
