Make a Belt Using Backstrap Weaving Technique
October 26 @ 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
Join us for a workshop to make a belt using a South American style backstrap loom.
Together we will build a South American style backstrap loom and weave a belt using recycled threads.
For the warp, we will use a backstrap loom, which will be tied to a post on one end and around the waist on the other end. As the person leans back, the warp is placed under tension, and the weft thread is passed through the shed opened by lifting alternating warp threads. As the weft passes back and forth, a weaving begins to form.
