Multicultural Wearable art: representation matters

October 6-October 31

Textile Fashion Installation by: Tiffany Kirkpatrick of Parker Simonne Designs. Inc.

My installation is my interpretation of representation matters.

To be included. To be immensely seen. To be heard.

My installation is a display of global textiles and handmade garments representing my West African heritage, and my travels to Guatemala. Other country’s textiles are represented as well.

Inspiration, purpose, and resiliency among the indigenous people of Guatemala and my African ancestors is the foundation of my garments.

The nuanced textiles of Central America and Africa, combined, make for one of a kind, hand-loomed natural fibers reimagined as wearable art.

This event is in conjunction with Portland Housing Month.
