SH/FT Artist Talk
October 15 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm
Come hear from the winning designers of SH/FT present their work, talk about their inspiration and use of innovative material.
SH/FT: an experiment in fashion design, is the annual runway show and benefit for The Right Brain Initiative, a project of the Regional Arts & Culture Council. SHIFT is a celebration of equitable education, creativity in the classroom, and innovative fashion design.
Designers and design teams of all ages and skill levels submit garments constructed from nontraditional materials and found objects exploring different themes each year. At the event, a panel of judges award cash prizes to the top three designers/design teams, and one designer/design team will be named People’s Choice by our audience.
Now in its 11th year, The Right Brain Initiative is working to help change the way kids learn in Portland-area schools through the arts. Working with 32,000 K-8 students annually, Right Brain aims to open kids’ minds to new ways of learning that promote imagination, collaboration and discovery.
At this free event, the winning artist designers of previous Sh/ft Runway shows, will present their work, talk about the inspiration for their winning design, art practice as artist designers and use of innovative and unusual material. The short talk will be followed by a Q & A giving audience members a chance to get inside the designer’s heads!!
