Stitching History: The Afro-American Heritage Bicentennial Commemorative Quilt

A panel discussion on the significance of the Afro-American Heritage Bicentennial Commemorative Quilt and 15 women who made it.

This panel focuses on the significance of Afro-American Heritage Bicentennial Commemorative Quilt, on display at the Oregon Historical Society during Portland Textile Month. The panel consists of Portland historian Dr. Carmen Thompson, quilt historian Mary Bywater Cross, and one of the original quilters Sylvia Gates Carlisle. Sheridan Collins, a Portland Textile Month Advisor, will be the moderator, and Eliza Canty-Jones, Oregon Historical Quarterly editor, will host.
