The Reuse and Adaptation of Textile Designs in Japan

Fashion designer and textile collector Andrea Aranow will discuss the reuse and adaptation of Japanese textiles.

Andrea Aranow, a longtime collector and researcher of textiles will address the Reuse and Refinement of textile design in traditional communities where she’s been based and then take a look at specific development in Japan, included a very brief look at original textile design paintings as well as garments and technique examples from her own collection. The final section is an overview of Portland-based Textile Hive, a vast digital archive comprised of over 40,000 textiles from Andrea’s textile design collection.
