We are NOW accepting applications for the 2021 Distributed Community Projects, apply here. Applications close April 9th.

Dear Textile Friends,

What a special festival PTM 2020 was. Thank you as always for your support and participation in the most challenging of times. We were overjoyed by the connections made and the creative resilience on display throughout the festival. The need for repair and reuse, of course, does not end now and we hope you will join us as we continue to explore the subject and create thoughtful programs and content throughout the coming months on our community platform, the TextileXchange. As we give gratitude for what we were able to share together, our attention turns toward the horizon and setting a course for 2021.

We are excited to announce and explore the theme of New Traditions for PTM 2021.

In this moment of rapid transformation what do we preserve and build upon and what do we rethink and rebuild anew? How can we transform our textile practices, collections, materials, businesses, institutions, and educational systems to serve a more inclusive, equitable, sustainable, and connected purpose? What is the future we want to weave together and how do we build it together? Our continued goal for next year’s festival will be to engage, share ideas, histories, knowledge, experiences, and practices across myriad cultures, viewpoints, and generations. We are excited to explore this topic with you and see what New Traditions we can create together.

With gratitude and admiration,

The PTM Team.
